I was gonna ask if it was real late / early when you read and responded to this but then I looked at the timestamp...

The whole post was a joke...but apparently not a very good one :(

I didn't respond to this at the time, but thankfully nothing that was destroyed in the vaults is irreplaceable. It's a small consolation, but none the less, a bit of light in the wake of the accident.

Uhm... Lou, you do realize that they do that intentionally right?

Various misspellings and uses of the and along with other tags allow them to obfuscate spam filters with varying degrees of accuracy.

If you want to have some real fun, you can check out the source code for some types of spam. In some of them you'll see encrypted messages which are used as a form of communication between spammers and other neer-do-wells (you'll eventually figure out which ones are more likely to have this).

Hi Lou:

Sorry about your tech problems. Been there.

Two questions:
- First, did you know that on your title bar for the blog there is no title for your blog? On my reader it says Untitled. You may want to enjoy some SEO goodness by keywording a title there.

I also couldn't find your contact info on the blog, as I was going to call you with the title question.

Oh well I hope all is well

Best always,
- Peter

Actually that's a different one. This is the sample of the 4104 (but it sounds very tinny, whereas when I heard what I was recording when I used it, it didn't sound like that):

http://www.coutant.org/4038.mp3

it's a starting reference. To compare it to other ribbon mics is unfair, as it doesn't behave like a ribbon in the traditional sense. For those looking to it to solve a noise issue, it'd be best to compare it against the RE/PL-11, EV 660/660A, RE-16, RE-18, and possibly the RE-10.

Greg, I don't have one of these and I don't have a copy of the audio recorded with it. Unless "most of you" had already heard of this mic, then the usefulness is in knowing it exists and adding it to a list of mics to test out if one would so desire.

Lou,

this doesn't mean a whole lot to me without clips... and the clips I've heard from this mic on coultant.org have been less than impressive compared to other ribbon mics.

Just saying... without a clip, most of us are stuck where we were before reading this on the usefulness of this microphone.

Yeah, that's a pretty darn big failure rate...thanks for the link.

I agree that for most people, traditional HDs are the best bet. Hopefully in a few years, just as it was with flat-panel displays, the failure rate will drop significantly along with the price.
